Art is both my vocation and my sanctuary. I am intrigued by the idea that one can make something from almost nothing, that from elements as simple as ground pigments one can conjur something new and possibly even beautiful. Working in a wide array of mediums, I enjoy exploring both the abstract and representational. I love it all. What I find so wonderful about working from life is that it forces me to look more closely at the world around me and to find the beauty and nuance within it. For me, then, the act of painting is an expression of my appreciation, gratitude and joy.
